Music for Youth - Home Page

Music for Youth is an educational charity with a worldwide reputation for its work in music education. It provides free access to educational and performance opportunities for all kinds of groups of young musicians and audiences through a nationwide series of festivals and concerts.

100,000 young music makers and audience take part in our festivals and concerts every year Two million children, aged from four to twenty-one, have taken part in Music for Youth since 1971.

The Music for Youth year comprises four major events: the Regional Festival Series, the National Festival, the Schools Proms and the Primary Proms.  Details of all other Music for Youth activities can be found on the events page.

Get involved in our first ever free family concert hosted by BBC Midlands Today’s Michael Collie. This concert is a great opportunity for families to be introduced to music in a fun and friendly environment.

Groups performing include brass musicians from Birmingham Conservatoire, Birmingham Schools’ Concert Orchestra, local legendary jazz saxophonist Andy Hamilton’s community jazz group Notebenders and the community choir Sing For All: Community Spirit run by Symphony Hall in partnership with Black Voices. Birmingham’s Wider Opportunities programme will also showcase its achievements with 120 children from four schools across Birmingham performing.
